Hi everyone
I can't believe this.
I was going to post a diary about Kim receiving the Community Quilt yesterday after the internet the gentleman downstairs lets us use was restored. Kim adores the quilt, and wants me to say a huge thank you to everyone for their messages of love and support.
I was going to say that every thing was going well, and we should be able to move in to our home by the end of the month, because it's true, and we couldn't be happier, or more grateful to you all, because we simply would not be able to do this without you.
Unfortunately, I have to post this.
Yesterday afternoon I was heading back to the apartment after checking the patch we'd poured on the cement pad for the modular home. About half a mile from where we're staying, I heard a crunch and the back end of our aging F150 dropped and started grinding.
Fortunately a friend of ours with a big truck and a tow kit was able to get me back to the apartment, and was able to get Kim to chemo last night. He also checked the back end for us and told us that the strut and shock on the passenger side had snapped, and the rear swing arm assembly had buckled.
I spent a bit of time this morning getting quotes, and one of our local garages gave us a decent figure, but one that we still can't really afford - parts and labour will cost $573.77, assuming no damage to the hub assembly or axle.
Kim's disability is in, but the final expenses on the property, living expenses and the first payments on Kim's previous hospital visits (not the most recent one) have already drained our balance to about three hundred for the rest of the month, and I won't be able to start the flex-time job until the kids start school next week, and we can't be without a vehicle at all. Even the next day or two is going to be difficult, and we can't guarantee anyone will be able to get Kim to chemo on Friday.
I feel sick asking for help, but I have to.
We dont even have time to set up a GoFundMe on this - the funds take 5 days to release from the first donation.
If there's any way you can, please send help to our PayPal at churlygurl (at) gmail (dot) com.
I know it never rains but it pours, but this is beginning to feel more like a curse. I will try and find the money here too, but without transportation, that's going to be hard.
I'm so, so sorry. I know if it's not one thing it's another. I don't know what else to to, and everything's going wrong when we're so damned close to everything being alright.
Love always
Callum and Kim
P.S. I will post the quilt diary a little later today.

We have just received an anonymous pledge to match $1000 in donations for truck repairs and other expenses for The month. Needless to say, Kim and I are totally floored by this unexpected generosity and help. Thank you all, so much, and I will update with a running total as soon as I can.
Thank you all so much. We can't believe how much support and love we find here. You are all wonderful, amazing people.
Love,
Callum and Kim

Overnight update:
As of this morning, our total is $550.
We simply cannot believe how amazing every one has been, how tolerant and generous and understanding! Kim and i are in awe, humbled and hopeful again. We don't deserve to be picked up by you every time we fall, but you are there for us. We can't begin to say thank you nearly enough for what you have done for us and our family.
I hope I'm not overstepping, but there is still a $1000 dollar-for-dollar match from an anonymous donor to cover any additional expenses that may arise. If you are ok with that, we are $450 away from that total, but rest assured that no matter what, we will be ok.
Thank you all, so very much. We are saved by you, in every way, amd we are looking forward to keeping you all informed about our lives going forward, for many years to come.
Love always
Callum and Kim
