Today, I hope to entertain you and include some sciencey stuff. Because astrology is both art and science.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

The Farmers' Almanac has this short video about Sunday's Full Flower Moon:
This week is a continuation of my last two Saturday diaries about the phases of the Moon and how those phases are viewed in astrology as indicators of personality traits.
Please note these are only indicators. Astrology is a complex art; the phase of your moon indicators may be overshadowed by other factors in your chart. This week, I'll talk a little about my own chart as it relates to the phases of the Moon (hey, I'm an Aries - we're a little self-absorbed) and how this is bolstered by other factors in my chart.
Please follow me below the orange curlicue for more...
Thanks to this website for the information on Moon rising times.
The Moon rises in our sky at different times each day.
At the New Moon, the Moon rises at sunrise.
At the First Quarter Moon, the Moon rises at noon.
At the Full Moon, the Moon rises at sunset.
At the Last Quarter Moon, the Moon rises at midnight.
Moonrise is about 50 minutes later each day.
Because the Moon rotates at the same speed as the Earth, we only ever see one side of our Moon. It took launching spacecraft to see the other side.
The Full Moon this month takes place at 8.42pm PDT. The Moon at 13 degrees of Scorpio opposes the Sun at 13 degrees of Taurus this month.
Turning back to our discussion of the personalities represented by different lunar phases, remember that the New Moon personalities are curious, youthful, somewhat naive and find it difficult to separate their inner and outer lives. Intuition often serves them better than logic.
Waxing Crescent Moon personalities struggle with inertia and resistance to change. This may come in the form of others trying to hold them back from searching out new skills and forms of expression. The resistance may also come from within themselves in the form of insecurities and perhaps a lack of confidence. Often the best way to overcome resistance and inertia is to develop new skills and abilities to move them forward in the direction they want to go.
First Quarter Moon personalities experience surges of power and energy which helps them to root structures in the world. They experience outer crises which often demand they create new structures in their lives. They may experience this cycle of building structures and having them torn down over and over in their lives. This gives them the experience to create lasting foundations in their personal lives and in society.
Those born under the Waxing Gibbous Moon phase, are often those that are constantly adjusting things in their world. The try something, analyze it, find out what works and what does not work. Then, they refine it again. These personalities are driven to contribute form and structure to society which are valuable and practical.
So now we come to the Full Moon phase of the Moon. As you know the Moon is always opposite the Sun at the Full Moon (from Earth's perspective). Full Moon personalities (180 degrees to 135 degrees behind the Sun) represent the flowering of the seeds planted at the New Moon. They experience the illumination of their ideals, their flowering, through interactions with others. These personalities frequently have idealized visions of the world and desire meaningful relationships with others. They give meaning and content to form and
realize their purpose in life through their interactions with others.
It is critical for these personalities to be very clear how they are acting and responding to others. There is a need to be clear in their thinking so they can shine the light on what is meaningful to them. By creating relationships with others where they are conscious of how they are thinking and acting and how others are responding to them, they learn how to take responsibility for every action, word and thought they have about other people. This, in turn, leads them to their life purpose of illuminating that which is meaningful.
I hope I have been successful at showing the progression of the structures which are chosen and take form, are analyzed and then completely illuminated by the Moon. Much energy is expended in the first have of the cycle in creation and discernment leading to full transparency at the Full Moon. The Full Moon phase is where decisions are made whether to keep what was created or not by being being very clear about oneself how one's actions, words and even thoughts affect others.
Which brings us to the Waning Gibbous Moon personality (135 to 90 degrees behind the Sun). These people are represented by the fruit of the Full Moon's flowers. They are fulfilled by eating the fruit and disseminating their experience to others in some form, whether spoken or written. Their life purpose is in sharing what they have learned with others. By having a belief which is important to them that they can share with others, they feel fulfilled. They may do this by simply "walking their talk" - being an example to others of what they feel is important in life.
If they do not have this outlet, they may feel a sense of meaninglessness and futility in life. They need to share their own personal wisdom with others who are receptive and receive feedback and wisdom from others.
This particular phase represents my personality. Because I was born under an Aries Sun, my Moon in Sagittarius is 126 degrees behind the Sun. This phase is emphasized for me because the Sun in Aries represents the start of the zodiac. With an Aries Sun, whatever phase one's Moon is in is emphasized in the personality because of the natural placement of the Sun and the Moon in the chart. The zodiac in western astrology always starts with the Sun in Aries. The archer of Sagittarius is the philosopher, the mystic, the priest, the teacher.
I have tried and do still try to walk my talk about the beliefs I hold. At this stage in my life, astrology is very important to me. I have been studying this subject for over 20 years. My philosophy about doing charts for others is to share my wisdom about the patterns I see in their chart and listen to their wisdom about living their chart.
Uranus, which rules astrology, sits in my tenth house of career and public face. It's in the sign of Cancer which always takes care of and feeds its tribe. My life purpose is to find my own vision in astrology and share that with others in my tribe. When I don't have a philosophy of life to share with others, I do indeed feel my life has no meaning.
It took a long time for me to come to this realization. I hope, in my astrology readings, to help others come to their own personal revelations.
And that, my lovely kos tribe, is that for this week.
Tune in next week for the final two phases of our Moon's dance with our Sun.
